Talking to Your Children about Tough Issues (TATI) is a three session workshop programme delivered by CCDAAG. It aims to help families find ways to prevent problems with alcohol and drugs and other risky behaviour. It is an opportunity to meet with other parents and learn skills to help you talk about tough issues.
The workshops will explore:
- the risk and protective factors which influence our children
- increasing skills and strategies that build protective factors
- increase our confidence as parents, guardians and carers to openly talk to our children in order to influence their attitudes around a range of risky behaviour like substance misuse
TATI is run over three weeks by CCDAAG facilitators who have been trained, are accredited and live in the local area. The programme is primarily aimed at the parents of primary school children, although the skills acquired can be used with young people of all ages, and is available to individuals who reside in the Carrickfergus Borough.
Feedback from participants attending courses has included:
'It was just not people talking at me. I used some of the ideas we talked about and they really made a difference.'
'I would recommend Tough Issues to any parent. I got a lot of practical ideas that worked!'
