'How to Drug Proof Your Kids'

How to Drug Proof Your Kids (DPYK) is a relaxed and informal programme aimed to help families develop strategies to influence their children's choices around the issue of drugs & alcohol, and to raise awareness of local community support.

The programme aims to help parents/guardians/carers & families:

" become better informed about drugs (including alcohol, tobacco and prescription medications),

" learn how to communicate effectively with their children about drugs, " develop plans to use at home to help their children make informed choices,

" examine their own beliefs, attitudes, and behaviour about drug use and

" benefit from the support of other parents and be encouraged by the fact that they are not alone

DPYK is run over six sessions by facilitators who have been trained, are accredited and live in the local area. The programme is primarily about prevention and is ideal for parents/guardians/carers of children aged 8 and above, and available to individuals who reside in the Carrickfergus Borough.
